1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Hidaya mobile application ("App") or accessing our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Hidaya is a mobile application that provides AI-powered Islamic guidance and educational content, including:
- Islamic question answering with AI assistance
- Prayer times and Qibla direction
- Dhikr counter
- Daily Quran verses
- Bookmarks and personal notes
- Islamic school-of-thought preferences (General, Sunni, Shia/Ja'fari)
3. Educational and Informational Purpose Only
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS:
Hidaya provides educational and informational content only. It is not intended to provide:
- Official Islamic rulings (fatwa)
- Scholarly religious advice
- Legal advice
- Medical or therapeutic guidance
- Emergency services
Hidaya is not a substitute for qualified Islamic scholars, muftis, imams, or religious authorities. For important religious matters, complex questions, or personal guidance, please consult qualified Islamic scholars, local religious leaders, or appropriate religious institutions.
4. AI-Generated Content
- Responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate
- AI responses should not be considered authoritative Islamic guidance
- Content is provided "as is" without warranties of accuracy or completeness
- Users should verify information through trusted Islamic sources
5. Age Requirements
You must be at least 13 years old to use Hidaya. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
6. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or to solicit unlawful activity
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the App
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Upload or transmit harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
7. Privacy and Data
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Key points:
- We collect information you provide (name, school of thought, age range, region)
- Chat messages may be processed by third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic)
- Location data may be used for prayer times and Qibla direction
- You can delete your account and data at any time
8. Intellectual Property
- Hidaya and its content are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws
- You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without permission
- Islamic content and guidance provided through the App should be attributed appropriately
9. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services including:
- AI Providers: OpenAI and/or Anthropic for content generation
- Supabase: For data storage and authentication
- RevenueCat: For subscription purchase and entitlement management when Hidaya Plus is offered
- Google/Apple: For optional authentication
We are not responsible for the availability or functionality of these third-party services.
10. Hidaya Plus Purchases
Hidaya may offer Hidaya Plus through auto-renewing subscriptions using Apple's In-App Purchase system. The exact price, billing period, included benefits, and any trial or introductory offer are displayed before you confirm a purchase.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account after confirmation
- A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel before renewal; you can manage or cancel it through your Apple Account or Hidaya's subscription controls
- Hidaya Plus currently includes up to 50 AI questions per UTC day, access to more considered answer generation, longer conversational context, and full stored conversation history; free accounts can browse their ten most recent questions and corresponding answers
- Hidaya Plus is subject to displayed daily and fair-use limits and is not unlimited; we may change AI models and providers, and a purchase does not guarantee access to a named model or separate future products or services
- Existing purchases can be restored from Hidaya's settings
- Apple handles billing and refund decisions; Hidaya and RevenueCat receive purchase and entitlement status but not full payment-card details
- If Hidaya permanently discontinues the service, we will provide reasonable advance notice where practicable and a reasonable opportunity to export conversation history before deletion, subject to security, legal, and operational constraints
11. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Accuracy of Islamic information
- Reliability of AI-generated responses
- Fitness for a particular purpose
- Non-infringement
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the App (if any)
- We are not liable for any religious, legal, or personal decisions made based on App content
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.
14. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.
15. Modifications to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without limiting any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the courts of Singapore, unless applicable consumer law permits you to bring it elsewhere.

18. Severability
